OUR MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMME
Mental Health Support
at Every Doorstep
Universal Versatile Society works with farmers, families and young people in Washim District, Maharashtra, to promote mental wellbeing, identify people experiencing psychological distress and connect those needing care with appropriate professional support.

WHY WE STARTED
Responding to Mental Health Challenges in Rural Vidarbha
Farmers and rural families in Vidarbha face pressures including unpredictable weather, crop losses, financial uncertainty, family responsibilities and limited access to mental healthcare.
These challenges can contribute to emotional distress, anxiety and depression. UVS initiated its programme to bring mental health awareness, early identification and supportive care closer to rural communities.

01
Community Awareness
We engage with rural communities through household visits and conversations that encourage understanding of mental wellbeing and help reduce stigma.
WHAT WE DO
Our Community-Based Approach
Our programme brings mental health awareness, early identification and access to appropriate care closer to rural households. Through community outreach and follow-up, we aim to support individuals and families who may otherwise find it difficult to seek help.
02
Mental Health Screening
We conduct preliminary mental health surveys and screening to identify individuals who may need further assessment or support.
Support & Guidance
03
We provide initial guidance and supportive assistance to individuals and families experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties.
Individuals needing clinical assessment or treatment are referred to Civil Hospital Washim, where eligible patients can access free government healthcare services.
Referral for Treatment
04
We maintain contact with beneficiaries where possible, encourage recommended treatment and support continued engagement with appropriate care.
