WOMEN'S COUNSELLING & REHABILITATION
Supporting Women Through Difficult Times
Women's counselling and rehabilitation have been part of UVS's community work since 2008. Historically supported through government initiatives, the programme has provided free counselling, referral assistance and rehabilitative support to women facing domestic difficulties, family conflict, violence and other challenging circumstances.
Today, women's counselling remains part of UVS's annual programme reporting, with assistance provided as individual cases and needs arise. Drawing on its community experience and established local relationships, UVS seeks to help women access appropriate guidance, support services and referral pathways.

WOMEN'S SELF-HELP GROUPS
Collective Strength for a Better Tomorrow
UVS has supported the formation and development of women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs), helping women organise collectively, strengthen financial awareness and explore opportunities for income generation.
Under the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, UVS received a work order through Zilla Parishad, Washim, for the formation of new savings groups. This government-supported initiative forms part of UVS's experience in community mobilisation and women's economic empowerment.

SKILLS & ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE
Learning Skills. Creating Opportunities.
Economic independence can help women make informed choices and contribute more confidently to their families and communities. UVS has organised vocational and skill-development activities to equip women with practical abilities and support opportunities for self-employment.
With assistance from Zilla Parishad, Washim, documented activities have included beauty parlour training, computer-related skills, DTP and data-entry training, as well as workshops in leather bag making, rangoli and cookery.

In 2018–2019, UVS participated in the What Women Want initiative, a global campaign advocating quality, dignity and equity in maternal and reproductive healthcare.
Working with the Centre for Catalyzing Change and White Ribbon Alliance, UVS mobilised field surveyors to listen directly to rural women across Washim District and document their healthcare priorities. The initiative highlighted the importance of respectful healthcare, accessible facilities, essential medicines, sanitation and better-supported healthcare professionals.
