REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE & SUSTAINABLE RURAL LIVELIHOODS

Restoring Soil.
Strengthening Farmers.

Building Resilient Communities.

Universal Versatile Society (UVS) works with farming communities in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region to advance regenerative agriculture, strengthen climate resilience and promote sustainable rural livelihoods.

THE CHALLENGE

Why Washim Needs Regenerative Agriculture

Washim District in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region is recognised under the Government of India's Aspirational Districts Programme. Farming communities here face interconnected challenges, including climate uncertainty, soil degradation, rising cultivation costs and pressure on livelihoods.

UVS seeks to address these challenges through ecological farming, improved soil and water management, agricultural knowledge-sharing and community-led solutions.

Climate Resilience

Erratic rainfall and rising temperatures affect farming stability.

Soil Restoration

Soil degradation reduces long-term productivity and biodiversity.

Rising input costs and market uncertainty increase financial risks.

Farmer Livelihoods

Food Security

Greater crop diversity and local food systems can strengthen community resilience.

Healthy Soil

Promoting soil restoration, organic inputs and ecological farming practices.

OUR APPROACH

From Healthy Soil to Sustainable Livelihoods

UVS promotes regenerative agriculture through ecological farming practices, practical farmer knowledge and community cooperation—connecting healthier agricultural ecosystems with stronger rural livelihoods.
